Updating to ionic 8, PWA project doesn’t reflect any changing I am trying to make in the variables for the pre-defined colors. Using the New Ionic color generator to create the colors and their shades, still it is not reflecting in my project. I cleared cache, recompiled. Nothing seems to help.
How to do that then?

Hello, I wanted to ask about a warning. When I create a new project and then use ionic build, it generates a warning. I don’t know how this problem could affect my project. I should mention that I chose Angular Standalone, Angular 19 and Capacitor 7 were installed by default.

Is there a way to add confirm/cancel buttons to the month/year picker when using ion-datetime in calendar mode? What I mean is, if you have an ion-datetime as in the “Showing Confirmation Buttons” example in the docs, you get:
When you click on month/year in the upper left, you get:
To select a new month and/or year, you select them then click on the month/year again. Is there a way to add cancel/confirm buttons to the UI when in the second state? Our testers have been commenting that this isn’t intuitive and I’d like to handle this before it goes to our users.

The scanner works perfectly only problem is that it doesn’t respect the hints that should limit what we want to scan. We’re having a lot of troubles with people scanning foods and accidentally scanning qr code first resulting in the app not finding the barcode
despite having it.
We tried a list of numerical values as explained in documentation. We then even tried using written out types with Html5QrcodeSupportedFormats
which is the official format definition capacitor-barcode-scanner/plugin/src/definitions.ts at fa9ed23ff14a2ca75b45286ce884494e6cb07ee4 · ionic-team/capacitor-barcode-scanner · GitHub
It just scans everything no matter the hints. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Currently the count on app logo is not reflecting the way it should be. Sometimes the app logo count is 3 while there are no new notifications. We should handle the app icon count
For Example: User receives 3 updates about his issues
App logo count is 3
User opens the start screen of the app and sees 3 new notification (alarmbel)
User close the app
App logo count is 0. Basically it is the same way how the app logo count is handled with Whatsapp in ionic capacitor app

A while ago I made an application using ionic 4.0 and I would like to update it to version 8.0. I would like to know how I can do it and what changes I should make in the code so that there is no problem.
For example, should I make changes to the dependencies?

I have updated my app (Ionic 8, VueJs) to Capacitor 7 and noticed that the app doesn’t “respect” the system toolbar on tablets, instead the content (header) is squeezed behind the system toolbar, causing the toolbar title to be halfway cut off.
Same goes for my ion-tab-bar
- the icons in the tab bar look squeezed (scaled) down and the respective tab labels aren’t even visible. They seemingly are hidden behind the system’s bottom bar (don’t know how you call it).
I have tested on two Android tablets (Samsung Galaxy A8 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite) and both show the above issue.
In Android Studio though, on a virtual Pixel 7 Pro (which is a phone, not tablet), it looks as expected.
However, it looked ok on the two tablets before, meaning with Capacitor 6.
Edit: sometimes the ion-tab-bar
un-squeezes and shows correctly (after closing and opening the app - not force closing). It almost looks a bit like an issue related to ion-safe-area, however, I haven’t changed anything in this regard.

We’re using Capacitor v7 which automatically uses Java 21 in the capacitor-cordova-android-plugins. When will AppFlow support Java 21?

I’m building an app where I want to simulate a “broken screen” effect (like cracked glass) triggered by a shake or button press. I found a useful example of this effect here: Broken Screen something similar to this, but within my Ionic app.
I’m thinking of using CSS animations or overlaying a broken screen image, and maybe adding haptic feedback for realism. I’m also curious if any Ionic plugins can detect motion to trigger this effect.
Anyone have tips or examples? How can I implement this without hurting performance too much?

Hello, my name is Andreus and I need big help.
I’m working on updating an Ionic app. The app was originally made with Ionic 3, and now I’m trying to update it to Ionic 7.
To do this, I started a new project, added the files, and updated them. It has been really hard to achieve, and now I’m facing a problem that I can’t figure out the reason for. When I open the project in Android Studio and build it, after the splash screen, there’s only a blank page. Looking in the Logcat (at the link), I don’t find the error that’s causing this.
Can someone help me? Here are the package.json
and the Logcat log.

Good evening, I generated an order application with ionic. It runs on a local server and users access it through their cell phone browser using the server’s IP address. But what happens is that the cell phone keeps changing to https://. I tried to generate it using ionic and openssl and I did
this way in angular json. I don’t know if it still works. You have an idea.

Hello,
I’m using the latest ionic in vanilla JS and it works out fine, however I’ve this piece of code to generate a list of items:
return `<ion-item>
<ion-label>${name}</ion-label>
<ion-note color="medium">${value}</ion-note>
</ion-item>`;
It works fine in most cases, however sometimes the output note is very large resulting in this:
eIs there a way to make it behave like native iOS where if it doesn’t fit the note will be displayed on a new line? Here’s the example from iOS settings:
Thank you.

i’m using ion-refresher, to refresh the data which works completely fine, now what i want to do is to disable the refresher for some time to cool it down after refresh but it does not get disabled and i’m still able to pull refresh ,although i can see the updated value of disabled in DOM.
ionic version : 7
angular version: 17
below is my code
<ion-refresher
slot="fixed"
(ionRefresh)="doRefresh($event)"
[disbaled]="isRefresherDisabled"
>
<ion-refresher-content
pullingIcon="refresh-outline"
pullingText="Pull to refresh"
refreshingSpinner="bubbles"
>
</ion-refresher-content>
</ion-refresher>
async doRefresh(event: any) {
await this.setEnableDates(true);
await this.scheduleCache.initDatasource();
if (event) await event.target.complete();
this.disableRefresherForCooldown();
}
disableRefresherForCooldown() {
this.isRefresherDisabled = true; // Disable the refresher
// Re-enable the refresher after 20 seconds
setTimeout(() => {
this.isRefresherDisabled = false;
}, 20000); // Cooldown duration: 20 seconds
}

I am unable to record audio using the microphone in the browser. The browser opens through the In-App Browser plugin, so it is running within a mobile app. I have fixed the ‘RECORD_AUDIO’ permission, but I still cannot record audio. My Ionic version is 7.2.0. Can anyone help me resolve this issue in Ionic, or is it impossible to record audio using the microphone in the In-App-Browser?

I’m writing an Android app where one of the features is similar to Strava – a training tracker. Users can start a training session, and I track their GPS position as a background task. At the end of the session, I analyze their route, speed, etc.
My activities usually last 4–8 hours, and the process runs in the background the entire time. I wonder how well Ionic can handle this. Can I achieve good performance (so system won’t kill my app) with Ionic? Anyone have experience on that?
